Toto was an American rock band founded in 1977 by some of the most popular and experienced session musicians of the era. The band enjoyed great commercial success in the 1980s, beginning with the band's self-titled debut, released during 1978. Continuing with 1982's critically acclaimed and commercially successful Toto IV, Toto became one of the best selling music groups of their era. They are known for such hit singles as "Hold the Line", "Rosanna", "Africa", and "Stranger in Town". Although their popularity in the United States diminished in the 1990s and 2000s, they continued to tour and sell out theaters and arenas internationally.
Toto was known for their technical skill in the studio, as well as a musical style that combines elements of pop, rock, soul, funk, progressive rock, hard rock, R&B, and jazz. Although they were regularly associated with the soft rock genre, this broad array of musical styles helped them appeal to a variety of musicians and non-musician listeners.
Formation
Toto formed as a group of six studio musicians in 1977. Before the band formed, the members of Toto were regulars on albums by Steely Dan,[1] Seals and Crofts,[2] Boz Scaggs,[3] Sonny and Cher,[4] and many others, contributing to many of the most popular records of the 1970s. Keyboardist David Paich, son of famed musician and sessions player/arranger Marty Paich, rose to fame after having co-written Boz Scaggs' Silk Degrees album. Having played on many sessions with drummer Jeff Porcaro (the son of noted session percussionist Joe Porcaro whom he had met while attending Grant High School in North Hollywood, California where they had formed the band Rural Still Life), the two began to seriously discuss the possibility of forming their own band. They brought in bassist and fellow session vet David Hungate, having played with him on the road with Boz Scaggs. In addition, the duo asked guitarist Steve Lukather (who had also played in Scaggs' band as a replacement for Les Dudek) and Jeff Porcaro's brother Steve Porcaro (keyboards) to join the team. Luke and Steve Porcaro had also attended Grant High and had in fact continued the band Rural Still Life (the name shortened to Still Life) after Paich & Jeff had graduated. With the addition of former S.S. Fools singer Bobby Kimball, the group began to work on their first album in 1977 after signing with Columbia Records.
"Africa" is a song by rock band Toto. The song was included on their 1982 album Toto IV, and scored number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in February 1983 and number three on the UK Singles Chart the same month. The song was written by the band's keyboardist David Paich and drummer Jeff Porcaro. David Paich sings both verses of the song. Bobby Kimball, Steve Lukather and Paich sing the choruses.
Without a doubt Toto’s most recognizable song, "Africa" was almost omitted from the Toto IV record prior to its release. Having spent a great amount of time producing the tune, the band became so tired of the song that they didn’t want it on the album. The song itself was very different from anything the band had done before, and some members felt that it didn’t sound like Toto.
“I didn’t think it was very good,” said Steve Lukather (Classic Rock Revisited, 2003). “That tells you what can happen when we pick our own singles!”
David Paich, who co-wrote the song with Jeff Porcaro, said that it “could have been the beginning of a solo project [for me] because it was so different. I thought I’d save it…[because] world music wasn’t around then.”
The initial idea for the song came from David Paich, playing on his piano. Jeff explains the idea behind the song: "... a white boy is trying to write a song on Africa, but since he's never been there, he can only tell what he's seen on TV or remembers in the past."
David Paich says the following: "At the beginning of the 80's I watched a late night documentary on TV about all the terrible death and suffering of the people in Africa. It both moved and appalled me and the pictures just wouldn't leave my head. I tried to imagine how I'd feel about if I was there and what I'd do."
Musically the song took quite some time to assemble, as David and Jeff explain:
"On 'Africa' you hear a combination of marimba with GS 1. The kalimba is all done with the GS 1; it's six tracks of GS 1 playing different rhythms. I wrote the song on CS-80, so that plays the main part of the entire tune."
Jeff Porcaro reminisces about how the song's drum track took shape:
"I was about 11 when the New York's World Fair took place, and I went to the African pavilion with my family. I saw the real thing; I don't know what tribe, but there were these drummers playing, and my mind was blown. The thing that blew my mind was everybody was playing one part. As a little kid in Connecticut, I would see these Puerto Rican and Cuban cats jamming in the park. It was the first time I witnessed someone playing one beat and not straying from it, like a religious experience, where it gets loud, and everyone goes into a trance. I have always dug those kind of orchestras, whether it be a band of all drummers. But I just love a band of guys saying one thing. That's why I loved marching band, and I said, 'Gee, someday there's going to be a little drum orchestra where everybody plays one thing, and you don't stray from it. You do it until you drop. You're banished from that land if you move from that one part.'
"So when we were doing 'Africa', I set up a bass drum, snare drum and a hi-hat, and Lenny Castro set up right in front of me with a conga. We looked at each other and just started playing the basic groove.... The backbeat is on 3, so it's a half-time feel, and it's 16th notes on the hi-hat. Lenny started playing a conga pattern. We played for five minutes on tape, no click, no nothing. We just played. And I was singing the bass line for 'Africa' in my mind, so we had a relative tempo. Lenny and I went into the booth and listened back to the five minutes of that same boring pattern. We picked out the best two bars that we thought were grooving, and we marked those two bars on tape. We made another mark four bars before those two bars. Lenny and I went back out; I had a cowbell, Lenny had a shaker. They gave us two new tracks, and they gave us the cue when they saw the first mark go by. Lenny and I started playing to get into the groove, so by the time the that fifth bar came – which was the first bar of the two bars we marked as the cool bars we liked – we were locked, and we overdubbed shaker and cowbell.
"So there was bass drum, snare drum, hi-hat, two congas, a cowbell, and a shaker. We went back in, cut the tape, and made a one-bar tape loop that went 'round and 'round and 'round. The Linn machine was available to us. Maybe it would have taken two minutes to program that in the Linn, and it took about half an hour to do this. But a Linn machine doesn't feel like that! So we had an analog groove. We took that tape, transferred it onto another 24-track for six minutes, and David Paich and I went out in the studio. The song started, and I was sitting there with a complete drumset, and Paich was playing. When he got to the fill before the chorus, I started playing the chorus, and when the verse or the intro came back, I stopped playing. Then we had piano and drums on tape. You have to realize that there are some odd bars in 'Africa', so when you have a one-bar loop going, all of a sudden, sometimes Lenny's figure would turn around. So Lenny went in and played the song again, but this time he changed his pattern a little for the turn-arounds, for the fills, for the bridge, for the solo. We kept the original part and the new one. Then we had to do bongos, jingle sticks, and big shakers doing quarter notes, maybe stacking two tracks of sleigh bells, two tracks of big jingle sticks, and two tracks of tambourine all down to one track. I was trying to get the sounds I would hear Milt Holland or Emil Richards have, or the sounds I would hear in a 'National Geographic' special, or the ones I heard at the New York World's Fair."
"Africa" was played on all of Toto's tours from its release until the band's breakup in 2008. It was sung by David Paich at the 2009 Millennium Development Goals Awards Ceremony.
The music video was directed by Steve Barron.[8] The story is of a researcher in a library (portrayed by band member David Paich), looking for clues to a book called Africa. Many scenes include the band performing atop a stack of hardcover books.
I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She's coming in 12:30 flight
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way,
Hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say, Hurry boy, It's waiting there for you
CHORUS:
It's gonna take a lot to take me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never have
The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what's right
As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti
I seek to cure what's deep inside, frightened of this thing that I've become
CHORUS
(Instrumental break)
Hurry boy, she's waiting there for you
It's gonna take a lot to take me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa, I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa, I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never have

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American singer, dancer, and entertainer. Referred to as the King of Pop, he is the most commercially successful and one of the most influential entertainers of all time. His unique contributions to music, dance, and fashion, along with a highly publicized personal life, made him a prominent global figure in popular culture for over four decades.
Alongside his brothers, he made his debut in 1964 as lead singer and youngest member of The Jackson 5, and later began a successful solo career in 1971. His 1982 album Thriller remains the best-selling album of all time, with Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), and HIStory (1995) also among the world's best selling albums. He is widely credited with having transformed the music video from a promotional tool into an art form with videos for his songs such as "Billie Jean", "Beat It" and "Thriller" making him the first African American artist to amass a strong crossover following on MTV. With stage performances and music videos, Jackson popularized a number of physically complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk. His distinctive musical sound, vocal style, and choreography, is credited with stretching across and breaking down cultural, racial, economic, generational, and global barriers that has inspired countless pop, rock, R&B and hip hop artists.
One of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, his other achievements feature multiple Guinness World Records—including the "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time"—15 Grammy Awards (including the "Living Legend Award" and the "Lifetime Achievement Award"), 26 American Music Awards (24 only as a solo artist, including one for "Artist of the Century")—more than any artist—, 17 number one singles in the US (including the four as a member of the Jackson 5), and estimated sales of up to 750 million records worldwide making him the world's best selling artist in history. He was also a notable philanthropist and humanitarian who donated and raised over 300 million dollars through support of 39 charities and his own Heal the World Foundation.
Jackson's personal relationships and life generated controversy for years. His changing appearance was noticed from the late 1970s onwards, with changes to his nose and to the color of his skin drawing media publicity. He was accused of child sexual abuse in 1993 though no charges were brought, and in 2005 he was tried and acquitted when the jury ruled him not guilty on all charges. He married twice, first in 1994 and again in 1996, and brought up three children, one born to a surrogate mother. While preparing for the This Is It concert tour in 2009, Jackson died at the age of 50 after suffering from cardiac arrest. He reportedly had been administered drugs such as propofol and lorazepam, and his death was ruled a homicide by the Los Angeles County coroner. His death triggered an outpouring of grief from around the world with his globally live broadcast memorial service attracting an audience of up to one billion people; as well as a huge surge in his album sales, resulting in him becoming the best selling artist of 2009 with sales in excess of 8.2 million in the United States where he became the first artist ever to have 4 of the top 20 best-selling albums in a single year, and 29 million albums globally, where he had an unprecedented 8 of the top 25 best-selling albums worldwide.
Thriller
It's close to midnight and something evil's lurking in the dark
Under the moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart
You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes
You're paralyzed
'Cause this is thriller, thriller night
And no one's gonna save you from the beast about strike
You know it's thriller, thriller night
You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight
You hear the door slam and realize there's nowhere left to run
You feel the cold hand and wonder if you'll ever see the sun
You close your eyes and hope that this is just imagination, girl!
But all the while you hear the creature creeping up behind
You're out of time
'Cause this is thriller, thriller night
There ain't no second chance against the thing with forty eyes, girl
Thriller, thriller night
You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight
Night creatures calling, the dead start to walk in their masquerade
There's no escaping the jaws of the alien this time
(They're open wide)
This is the end of your life
They're out to get you, there's demons closing in on every side
They will possess you unless you change that number on your dial
Now is the time for you and I to cuddle close together, yeah
All through the night I'll save you from the terror on the screen
I'll make you see
That this is thriller, thriller night
'Cause I can thrill you more than any ghost would ever dare try
Thriller, thriller night
So let me hold you tight and share a
Killer, diller, chiller, thriller here tonight
'Cause this is thriller, thriller night
Girl, I can thrill you more than any ghost would ever dare try
Thriller, thriller night
So let me hold you tight and share a killer, thriller, ow!
(I'm gonna thrill ya tonight)
Darkness falls across the land
The midnight hour is close at hand
Creatures crawl in search of blood
To terrorize y'alls neighborhood
I'm gonna thrill ya tonight, ooh baby
I'm gonna thrill ya tonight, oh darlin'
Thriller night, baby, ooh!
The foulest stench is in the air
The funk of forty thousand years
And grizzly ghouls from every tomb
Are closing in to seal your doom
And though you fight to stay alive
Your body starts to shiver
For no mere mortal can resist
The evil of the thriller

Lyrics´s song. El sueño “la ley innata” (2008)
No hay nada en el espejo
y persigo mis reflejos
igual que en los sueños.
De andar desorientado
voy cayendo en picado;
es igual que un mal sueño.
La vida es roja si te vas
y me derrota igual
que en los sueños,
y olvido y ya no sé qué hacer,
no dejo de correr,
como en sueños.
Te estaba dando un beso
y mis labios no eran esos,
igual que un mal sueño.
La gente está que trina
y la letra se me olvida;
es igual que en mi sueño.
La vida es roja si te vas
y me derrota igual
que en los sueños,
y olvido y ya no sé qué hacer,
no dejo de correr,
como en sueños.
Si no te vuelvo a ver,
no quiero despertar;
la realidad no me abandona.
Busco un mundo mejor
y escarbo en un cajón
por si aparece entre mis cosas.
Buscando mi destino,
viviendo en diferido
sin ser, ni oír, ni dar.
Y a cobro revertido
quisiera hablar contigo,
y así sintonizar.
No hay día que me levante
y no haya muertos delante,
es peor que un mal sueño.
Hoy han dicho en la tele
que han muerto tres mujeres
y que han sido ellos;
que un hombre-bomba entró en un bar
dispuesto a dialogar
con sus muertos;
que bombardean una ciudad
y algo ha salido mal.
Por supuesto.
Una bomba inteligente
ha matado al presidente;
pensó que era bueno.
Y dicen por la tele
que han muerto más mujeres
y que han sido ellos.
La vida es roja si te vas
y me derrota igual
que en los sueños,
y olvido y ya no sé qué hacer,
no dejo de correr,
como en sueños.
Si no te vuelvo a ver,
no quiero despertar;
la realidad no me abandona.
Busco un mundo mejor
y escarbo en un cajón
por si aparece entre mis cosas.
Buscando mi destino,
viviendo en diferido
sin ser, ni oír, ni dar.
Y a cobro revertido
quisiera hablar contigo,
y así sintonizar.

Obviously there will be a few songs you don´t vote INCLUDING YOURS. However, you can vote for the song of your partners, if any, in the contest. JUST ONE VOTING of 12,10,8,7, etc. is allowed per group, and you INDICATE which group is voting, for example, this is Boikot voting and these are our votes:...
YOU CAN´T VOTE FOR YOUR OWN SONG.
3.During this week, you can listen to all songs and decide about your votes.

Here is a link for their single Cadence Of Her Last Breath from the album Dark Passion Play. Enjoy it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji0TIqDIpmU
And lyrics are here:
Cadence Of Her Last Breath
Running for her life
The dark rain from her eyes still falls
Breathtaking butterfly
Chose a dark day to live
Save one breath for me
A Loner longing for
The cadence of her last breath
Why do I miss someone
I never met, with bated breath I lay
Seawinds brought her to me
A butterfly, mere one-day miracle of life
And all the poetry in the world
Finally makes sense to me
Save one death for me
A Loner longing for
The cadence of her last breath
Put to rest all that's not life
Drink for beauty and fill my blank page
Sometimes a dream turns into a dream
A Loner longing for
The cadence of her last breath

Tree Days Grace
Tree Days Grace – Animal I Have Become
Lyrics
I can't escape this hell
So many times I've tried
But I'm still caged inside
Somebody get me through this nightmare
I can't control myself
So what if you can see
The darkest side of me
No one will ever change this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal
I can't escape myself
So many times I've lied
But there's still rage inside
Somebody get me through this nightmare
I can't control myself
Some what if you can see
The darkest side of me
No one will ever change this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal
Somebody help me through this nightmare
I can't control myself
Somebody wake me from this nightmare
I can't escape this hell
This animal
This animal
This animal
This animal
This animal
This animal
This animal
So what if you can see
The darkest side of me
No one will ever change this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal
This animal I have become...

The lyrics in spanish:
Se acabó,
el odio me arrolló la razón,
con mi época estoy comprometido,
y el amor, se fue volando por el balcón,
a donde no tuviera enemigos,
y ahora estoy en guerra contra mí alrededor,
no me hace falta ningún motivo,
Y sigo preso
Pero ahora el viento corre alrededor
Por mis pecados sigo preso
Carne y hueso
Se muere de hambre el mundo alrededor
Tú y yo total de carne y hueso
Primero los maderos
Van detrás de mí
Que intento ser feliz
Y abocado a los tejados
Me he mudado a vivir
Por desobedecer, por ver al sol salir
Por sacar la cabeza fuera
Y sigo preso
Pero ahora el viento corre alrededor
Por mis pecados sigo preso
Carne y hueso
Se muere de hambre el mundo alrededor
Tú y yo total de carne y hueso
Necesito saber
Dime tu nombre
De donde sale el sol
Y de que se esconde
Necesito saber
Dime tu nombre
Estoy continuamente torcido
Y ahora solo pienso en ella
Donde su recuerdo
Se me clava entre las cejas
Sueño con melones
Encima de la mesa
Buscando mi destino,
viviendo en diferido
sin ser, ni oír, ni dar.
Y a cobro revertido
quisiera hablar contigo,
y así sintonizar.
Sueño que empieza otra canción
Vivo en el eco de su voz
Entretenido
Sigo la estela de su olor
Que me susurra vámonos
Vente conmigo
…y en el desierto hay un cartel
Lleno de flores de papel
Pensaba
K seria frio el amanecer
Te equivocabas otra vez
Nevaba
Me preguntaba, Si tal vez
Mañana
Necesito saber
Dime tu nombre
De donde sale el sol
Y de que se esconde
Necesito saber
Dime tu nombre
…..no puedo comprender me da pereza
Y si hay algun escalón para mi tropezón voy de cabeza
Y de la habitación para que vuelva amor chorro pereza
La educación de la televisión no me interesa.
The lyrics in english:
It's over,
hit me hate reason
I am committed with my time,
and love, he flew over the balcony,
where he had no enemies,
and now I'm at war around me,
I do not need any reason
and is being ...
Master of contradiction
And expert to break the forbidden
So the kids and come to me
I try to be happy
Since then, this prison will not let me go
I have nowhere to run
I'll make a ...
I got the head out
And I prisoner
But now the wind speeds around
For my sins I am still a prisoner
Flesh and Bone
Are starving around the world
You and I full of meat and bone
First the beams
They're following me
I try to be happy
And doomed to rooftops
I have moved to live
For disobedience, to see the sun rise
By sticking your head out
And I prisoner
But now the wind speeds around
For my sins I am still a prisoner
Flesh and Bone
Are starving around the world
You and I full of meat and bone
I need to know
Tell me your name
From where the sun rises
And that is hidden
I need to know
Tell me your name
From where the sun rises
And that is hidden
Come to the shade, love
I hope you
That my heart
Here safely thaw?
Come to the shadows, come love
I hope you have already cherry Pies
I drop my home since he left
Now I just hope the demolition
And I lost
The track axis of the room
I am continually twisted
And now just thinking about it
Where your memories
He nailed me between the eyebrows
I dream of melons
On the table
Searching for my destiny,
living in deferred
without being, or hear, or give.
And to collect
I would talk to you,
and well tuned.
Sleep begins another song
I live in the echo of your voice
Entertaining
I follow the trail of their scent
I whisper let's go
Come with me
... And the desert is a sign
Full paper flower
Thought
K serious cold dawn
You were wrong again
Snowing
Summer came and hit the spring
And the sun in your garden asphyxia
And they fall off the birds to the tree
They no longer sing for me
I opened my eyes to see
I met with destiny
Looking
I have everything half done
I wondered, if perhaps
Morning
I need to know
Tell me your name
From where the sun rises
And that is hidden
I need to know
Tell me your name
From where the sun rises
And that is hidden
Come to love shadow
I hope you
That my heart .... Here we have the ice
Come to the shadows, come love
I hope you
I already have ... .. cherry Pies
... .. I can not understand me lazy
And if there is any step I stumble to my head
And the room for love again laziness jet
Education TV does not interest me.

LA FUGA.
Spanish rock band La Fuga were born in July of 1996 in Reinosa, a small industrial town south of Cantabria. Edu (drums), Rulo (guitar and voice), Fito (lead guitar and voice), and Inaki (bass) all left previous bands behind in hopes of forming a solid group. It was not long before La Fuga were performing regularly in Reinosa and the surrounding area. In June of 1997 the group took to the studio to record its first record, the self-produced El Camino. Thanks to local success and acclaim, the group was soon offered the opportunity to work with Fak Records on its first truly market-ready project, Mira. In the process, La Fuga lost Fito to other projects, yet took to the road anyway, touring to support their new record with a new lead guitar player, Nando. A short time later the group produced its second studio production, called A Golpes de Rock and Roll. The record's success and acclaim among local critics opened doors for further projects A Las Doce and Calles de Papel. The group's fifth record release, Negociando Gasolina, was issued in 2005, followed by Nubes y Claros: En Acústico in 2006.

THIS IS THE SONG.
Heroína, diablo vestido de angel.
Yo busco en ti sin saberlo
Lo que tu solo puedes darme.
Hace tiempo que te conozco;
Tienes penas y alegrías.
Vas matando poco a poco
Pues yo ya se bien de tu vida.
Mas chutes no.
Ni cucharas impregnadas de heroína;
No mas jóvenes llorando noche y día.
Solamente oír su nombre causa ruina.
Me cogiste bien cogido
En tus invisibles rejas.
Yo quiero escapar de ti,
Pero me arrastras, no me dejas.
Tu me ayudas a morir
Con tus venenos en mis venas
Y, si llego un día a viejo,
Podrido por dentro y por fuera.
